Ouistiti Maths — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Ouistiti Maths (the "Application") is an app for children. It was designed to know as little as possible about them: no account to create, no first name asked, no advertising, no ad tracking, no data sold.
This policy describes, feature by feature, what stays on the device, what leaves it, where it goes, and how to exercise your rights.
1. Data controller
Éd's Monkeys Consulting, a French EURL (single-member limited liability company), SIREN 830 916 888, Asnières-sur-Seine (92600), France. Publication director: Édouard RICHARD.

3. In detail, feature by feature
3.1 Profiles, progress and settings
Each child profile consists of a nickname (drawn at random from vetted word lists, or typed by an adult with Ouistiti Pro), a mascot and a colour. No first name, age, email address or photo is asked for.
Profiles, progress, records and settings are saved on the device. A copy is kept in the private iCloud space of the Apple Account signed in on the device, so progress can be found again on another device. Only that account can read this copy: the Publisher has no access to it. Turning iCloud sync off in the Application deletes this copy.
3.2 Leaderboards
Leaderboards are off by default. Only an adult can turn them on, from the code-protected parent area.
Once on, the Application publishes for each profile and each board: the nickname, the best score, its date, the type of board, an anonymous identifier created by Firebase for the installation, a random profile identifier (unrelated to the child's identity), the Ouistiti Pro status and the platform (iOS or Android). This data is stored by Google (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). The nickname and score are visible to other players; the technical identifiers are not.
Turning leaderboards off deletes the scores already published.
A free-text nickname is published exactly as typed. It is up to the adult who types it to keep any real name out of it.
3.3 Audience measurement and crash reports
The Application uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to understand which screens are used, how sessions unfold, and to fix crashes. The following is sent:
- screens visited and actions in the Application (mode chosen, settings, how sessions unfold: number of right answers, average answer time);
- usage characteristics: mascot chosen, profile type, microphone on or off, Ouistiti Pro status, level reached in the adventure, number of tables mastered;
- in case of a crash, a technical report (device model, system and Application version, error trace);
- an instance identifier generated by Firebase for the installation, needed for these measurements.
Never sent: the nickname or any name, the answers given to the sums, the voice, the location. Collection of the Apple device identifier (IDFV) and ad personalisation signals are turned off. The Application does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not ask for tracking permission.
3.4 Ouistiti Pro purchases
Payments are processed by Apple: the Publisher never sees your name, email address or payment details. To verify and restore purchases, the Application uses RevenueCat, which receives the purchase history linked to the device and an anonymous identifier created for the installation. No profile identifier or nickname is sent to RevenueCat.
3.5 Answering out loud
The microphone is off by default. It is only requested if the child chooses to answer out loud, and the numeric keypad is always available. Recognition happens on the device when it supports it, otherwise through Apple's speech recognition service. No recording is kept or sent to the Publisher.
3.6 Location
Location is only requested when the recentre button on an island's map is tapped, never at launch. It is used solely to recentre the map and show the distance to the island. Nothing is saved, nothing is sent.
3.7 Daily reminder
The reminder is a local notification, scheduled on the device. No server is involved.
3.8 Writing to us
If you write to ouistiti@edsmonkeys.co, the Publisher receives your email address and the content of your message, solely to reply to it.
4. Children
The Application is designed to be used by children, under an adult's responsibility. It asks the child for no data that directly identifies them. The features that publish something (leaderboards) or allow free text (free-text nickname) can only be turned on from the parent area.
5. Legal bases
- Running the Application, iCloud sync, purchases: performance of the contract (EULA).
- Leaderboards: the adult's consent, given by turning them on in the parent area and withdrawn by turning them off.
- Crash reports: the Publisher's legitimate interest in providing an application that works.
- Audience measurement: the Publisher's legitimate interest in understanding how the Application is used in order to improve it, with data limited to what is strictly necessary and no advertising purpose. You can object by writing to ouistiti@edsmonkeys.co.
6. Retention periods
- Data on the device: until the profile or the Application is deleted.
- iCloud copy: until sync is turned off or the data is deleted from iCloud.
- Leaderboard scores: until leaderboards are turned off.
- Audience measurement: 14 months at most.
- Crash reports: 90 days.
- Purchase data at RevenueCat: as long as needed to manage purchases and meet legal obligations.
- Emails received: as long as needed to handle the request.
7. Recipients and processors
No data is sold or rented. The only recipients are the technical providers that run the Application:
- Apple (iCloud, speech recognition, payments);
- Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics);
- RevenueCat (purchase management).
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union, particularly in the United States. These transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for by the GDPR: an adequacy decision of the European Commission (EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework) or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. You can exercise them by writing to ouistiti@edsmonkeys.co.
Many of these rights can also be exercised directly in the Application: editing or deleting a profile, turning leaderboards off (which deletes published scores), turning iCloud sync off (which deletes the copy). Deleting the Application erases the data saved on the device.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
9. Changes
This policy may change along with the Application. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. Significant changes are announced in the Application.
